The 3 Types of Content Every Coach Needs to Be Posting Weekly

July 11, 20264 min read

Most coaches post what they feel like posting and hope something sticks. A quote today. A selfie tomorrow. A random tip on Friday. That's not a strategy. That's a guessing game. And it's why so many coaches feel like social media isn't working for them.

The truth is: people don't follow coaches who post randomly. They follow coaches who consistently teach them, inspire them, and show them a next step. When you understand these three roles that your content needs to play, you stop posting and hoping. You start posting with intention.

Here are the three types of content every coach needs in their weekly rotation.

Type 1: The Educational Post - Build Your Authority

This is the post that teaches. One concept. One reframe. One practical tip your ideal client can use right now.

The educational post is what builds your authority over time. It shows your audience that you know what you're talking about. It positions you as the thought leader in your niche. And every time you post one, you are depositing into the trust bank your audience keeps for you.

Here's the key: teach one thing per post, not five. When you try to pack everything in, people retain nothing. When you teach one specific thing that speaks to something your ideal client is struggling with, they stop scrolling. They read. They share.

A great educational post starts with a pain or a limiting belief. Then it offers a reframe or a solution. Then it closes with something motivating. Think of the "three thieves stealing your dream" structure: name the problem, reframe it, and send people off feeling like they can take one step today. It is inspiring and practical at the same time.

This is not about being perfect. This is about being useful. The world does not need you to be perfect. The world just wants to see the authentic you showing up with something valuable.

Type 2: The Story Post - Build Your Connection

This is the post that makes people feel. It is your before-and-after. Your personal moment of difficulty and what you learned from it. Your client result and the journey behind it.

Story posts build emotional connection. They lower the wall between you and a potential client faster than any educational post ever will. Because when someone reads your story and thinks "that's me," they feel seen. And feeling seen is the beginning of trust.

There are two kinds of story posts that work well. The first is your transformation story. Where were you before? Where are you now? What did it cost you to get here? Share that. Not to brag, but to show your audience that you've walked the road they're standing at the beginning of.

The second is a client milestone post. Celebrate a result that one of your clients achieved. But don't just post a screenshot and move on. Tell the story behind it. The before, the struggle, the shift, the result. And always pull out the lesson that your audience can take away for themselves. That's what turns a testimonial into a teaching moment.

Document your milestones. Document your journey. Your audience is watching to see if you are real. Every milestone post you share brings them one step closer to believing you are the right guide for them.

Type 3: The Conversion Post - Invite the Next Step

This is the post that moves people forward. Not a sales pitch. A hand raise. An invitation.

Give in public. Sell in private. That is the rule.

A conversion post does not tell people the price of your program. It does not say "DM me to buy." What it does is invite people to raise their hand for something valuable. Comment a word below and I'll send you the guide. Drop a yes if you want access to this free resource. Tell me where you're stuck and I'll reply with something that helps.

When people comment, the algorithm boosts your post. And when they engage, you now have a warm lead who has shown you their hand. From there, the conversation moves to private.

One strategy that works powerfully: right after a milestone post or a celebration post gets a lot of engagement, put out a conversion post within 48 hours. The algorithm is already showing your content to more people. Ride that wave. That is how one post with 800 engagements became 300 people asking for a free ebook, because the CTA post went out while the momentum was still building. 🔥

Your 7-Day Content Challenge

This week, commit to posting three times. One of each type.

Post 1: Teach one thing your ideal client struggles with. Start with their pain. Offer a reframe. End with encouragement.

Post 2: Share a story. Yours or a client's. Before, struggle, shift, result, lesson.

Post 3: Invite a next step. Comment a word below. Ask them where they're stuck. Give something valuable in exchange for a hand raise.

Three posts. Three purposes. One week. That's the system.

John Maxwell said it best: motivation gets you going, but discipline keeps you growing. That is the law of consistency.

Stop posting randomly. Start rotating with purpose. And watch what happens when your audience finally knows what to expect from you. 💪
