Clean upward arrow on a simple graph, progress, not perfection

From Zero to Your First $10K in Coaching: The Organic Path

July 17, 20264 min read

In August 2021, I was working 16 hours a day. I had tested seven low-ticket offers, built three funnels, run two workshops, and sold a $27-a-month membership. At the end of that month I had made $3,796 from 70 sales. And I was completely burned out.

That was not the path.

I stopped following what the gurus were teaching and asked myself a simpler question: what is the fastest way to help fewer people more deeply and get paid what my work is actually worth? That question changed everything.

Here is what I found.

The Mistake That Keeps New Coaches Broke and Burned Out

The standard advice for new coaches goes like this. Build a following first. Create a free lead magnet. Sell a low-ticket course. Build a funnel. Run ads. And once you've done all of that, maybe you can start charging more.

This advice is not wrong for someone with five or ten years in the industry and a full team. But if you are just starting out, it is overwhelming. It is also slow. And it will burn you out before you ever get momentum.

Think about the math. To make $10,000 a month from a $50 course, you need 200 sales. Every single month. That is a lot of marketing, a lot of transactions, and a lot of people to deliver results to.

Now imagine instead that you had four clients paying $2,500 each. Same $10,000. Four conversations. Four people to focus on fully. Four chances to create a transformation so good they tell everyone they know.

Which path do you want to be on?

The Three Steps That Actually Work

When I finally stopped chasing the low-ticket path and committed to high ticket, I built my method around three clear steps.

The first step is to craft your first imperfect offer. Notice I said imperfect. You do not need a polished program. You do not need a website. You do not need a funnel. You need a clear offer that says: here is who I help, here is the problem I solve, here is what it costs. Start at $2,000 to $3,000. That is your foundation.

The second step is to find your perfect 10. You do not need 1,000 clients to reach $100,000. You do not even need 100. You need 10 clients who pay you $3,000 each. That is $30,000. Find your perfect 10 and focus everything on getting them results.

The way you find them is not through ads. You run a challenge or a workshop, bring people into your world, let them experience how you teach, and then offer them the chance to go deeper. This is the organic path. No cold DMs. No complicated tech. Just genuine value, delivered consistently, to the right people.

The third step is your two-step simple ascension. Once you have your 10 clients, a portion of them will want more access to you. They will want to go further, faster. That is your premium offer. If you charge $10,000 for your premium program and just two of your original 10 clients step up into it, that is another $20,000. Combined, you have $50,000. Do that cycle twice and you have hit $100,000.

No ads. No funnels. No cold calls.

Focus on Trust Before You Focus on Numbers

Here is something I say to every coach who is just starting. Focus on building trust more than building numbers in your business.

When I started Impact University in 2021 at $2,000, I was not focused on how many people were following me. I was focused on how well I knew the people I was already talking to. I was focused on whether they trusted me. Whether they felt I understood their problem. Whether they believed I could help them solve it.

That trust is what converts. Not your follower count.

Your first $10,000 month in coaching is not as far away as it feels. You need one clear niche statement that says exactly who you help and what you help them do. You need one offer priced at $2,000 or above. And you need to have five genuine conversations with people who fit your WHO.

That is it. Not 70 sales. Not seven funnels. Not 16-hour days.

Five conversations. One offer. One clear message.

Start there. 🔥
