Why Introverts Make the Best High Ticket Coaches (And the Science Behind It)

July 07, 20264 min read

In January 2021, I was on a Zoom call with a six-figure coach in Singapore. I had one question for her: I want to become a coach. What do you think?

She looked at me sternly and said: "Hui Hui, you're too shy and introverted, you can't speak well, and you don't even have a social media following. Who are you to become a coach?"

My dreams were dashed in that moment. I went into depression for the next four months and gave up on the idea completely.

Then I built a seven-figure coaching business. Organically. As an introvert. ✨

What the Coaching World Got Wrong

The coaching industry has a loud bias. It rewards the bold, the big-personality, the ones who seem to fill a room just by showing up. And for years, introverts bought into the idea that they needed to become someone else before they could build something real.

I bought into it too.

I was the youngest in my family, growing up in a very Asian household in Singapore. Every time I tried to speak up at the dinner table, my mom would say: "It's not your turn to speak yet. Just eat your food." After hearing that enough times, you stop trying. You turn inward. You keep your thoughts to yourself.

For the first 20 years of my life, that is exactly what I did.

When I ran my retail business before COVID, I was still the same. If three to five customers came in at once, I would sometimes run to the toilet and hide until the crowd thinned out. I was building a business while being terrified of the very people I was supposed to serve.

But here is what nobody tells you: the introvert's instinct to go deep rather than wide, to listen rather than perform, to build real relationships rather than collect connections, that is not a weakness. In high-ticket coaching, it is your greatest asset.

Three Introvert Superpowers for High-Ticket Work

Superpower 1: You listen in a way that transforms people.

High-ticket coaching is not about how much you talk. It is about how deeply your client feels heard. Introverts are wired for this. You do not fill silence with noise. You sit in it. You notice what is not being said as much as what is. And when a client feels genuinely heard, maybe for the first time in their business journey, that is when real transformation begins.

Superpower 2: You prepare and deliver at an exceptional level.

Introverts do not wing it. They think before they speak, refine before they release, and show up having done the work. Your programs are thorough because you spent time alone thinking through what your clients actually need. Your coaching calls are intentional. Your frameworks are clear. High-ticket clients are paying for that precision. And you deliver it naturally.

Superpower 3: You build relationships that last.

Extroverts can work a room. Introverts build a room they never want to leave. You are not trying to collect 10,000 followers. You are investing in the 100 people who matter. When clients feel that depth of connection with you, they stay. They refer their friends. They come back for your next program. The introvert's preference for fewer, deeper connections is exactly how high-ticket retention works.

The Proof Is in the Journey

When that six-figure coach told me I was too shy and introverted to be a coach, she was measuring me against a version of the industry that did not include people like me.

But on the 9th of May 2021, I woke up at 8am and found an event called the Own Your Future Challenge being promoted by ten different people in my email inbox at the same time. Something told me this was it. I registered. I took notes. I shared them inside a Facebook group, and within the first day, that single post received over 6,000 likes and thousands of comments.

I did not do that by being loud. I did it by being thorough, by genuinely wanting to help people, by going deep. Classic introvert moves.

From there: 100k in 100 days, achieved in 70. A million dollars in 10 months. Built entirely through organic content and genuine human connection.

Not because I stopped being an introvert. Because I finally leaned into it. 🙌

When it comes to entrepreneurship, when it comes to building something that matters, that is my zone of genius. That is where I truly shine.

And if you are reading this as an introvert who has been told you are too quiet, too reserved, too much in your head to make this work, I want you to hear this:

When a quiet woman finds a purpose louder than her fears, she becomes unstoppable. #IntrovertSuccess ❤️
